In this clip from today's Health Care Summit... like several of the exchanges, the President is not interested in talking about the facts, or the figures. He squirms and glares when the Republicans try to talk about facts and figures in his proposals. Today, February 18th, 2010, Joseph Stack, a 53 year old software engineer few his small plane into the Austin Internal Revenue Service Offices at full throttle. Before he crashed his plane into the IRS Office, Mr. Stack also set his house on fire with his wife and 12 year old daughter or stepdaughter inside. Lucky for them a neighbor got them out before it was too late. I think it's obvious Joseph Stack had an issue with taxes. I think it's also obvious he had some other issues as well. It's a sad situation. Others were killed and critically injured besides Mr. Stack. But... here's the thing... people loath the IRS so much that there are already jokes about it......

Our local paper, The Burlington, NC Times-News, has been openly supportive of illegal aliens. Alamance: 287g Battleground. Burlington, NC There was a famous battle here in 1771 that help define the model for the colonists fighting the British in the American Revolutionary War. Republicans are getting frustrated with the progress of the John McCain campaign and are voicing that frustration in appropriate and inappropriate ways at campaign rallies. I applaud Senator McCain for trying to reel in the extremism and keep the pot from boiling over. Senator Obama seems to be made of titanium and Teflon and possesses almost hypnotic orator abilities. Is it just me or does something about this just smell bad, really bad? I see a lot of black people driving cars with Obama bumper stickers. Don't get me wrong, I see non-black people with them too. However, I see a lot of black people with Obama bumper stickers; more than I think had presidential candidate bumper stickers in the last few elections. I realize that is a very unscientific calculation, but it's my gut feeling. It makes me wonder how many people plan on voting for Obama and are supporting Obama for the sole reason that he's black. I read a few reviews of Will Smith's new movie Hancock. I doubt I'll go see it after reading the reviews, but in general, I like his movies, he's a good actor. One thing struck me as I was reading the reviews, the writers kept talking about race. They said his character in Hancock represents Smith's own struggles and conflicts of being a successful black actor. RUPERT, Idaho - A big Double Barreled Salute to Clint Straatman. Mr. Straatman is a physical ed. Teacher at Minico High School in Rupert. On 5/5/08, one of his students, Froylan Camelo, brought a Mexican flag to school for Cinco de Mayo. It seems that Mr. Straatman took the flag from Camelo as he was changing for gym class. As expected, there appears to be some discrepancy between the two sides of the story, but the flag ended up undamaged in the trash can. I read in a news release today that Josef Fritzl says he's no monster. He says that he saved their lives (referring to his captive daughter and incestuous children/grandchildren), that he could have killed them all and no one would have known. In case you don't know Fritzl is the 73 year old monster who kept his daughter locked in his basement for 24 years from the the time she was 18. It's a long article that details an investigation into the military tricking injured soldiers into taking a Chapter 5-13 personality disorder for pre-existing condition discharge and thereby loosing their medical benefits... all to save the military money because they don't have to provide medical care to soldiers discharged with a pre-existing personality disorder. I received this in an email this morning... The following from a director with SW BELL in Mexico City. I spent five years working in Mexico. I worked under a tourist visa for three months and could legally renew it for three more months. After that you were working illegally. May 1st came and went. Depending on who you are and where you live, the impact of the "Day without Immigrants" varied from something in the news, to noticeable, to a major event. From my office windows, I could see a buildup starting around the Court House late in the afternoon. By the time I left work, there was a pretty good sized crowd.
