OIL? AH, LET RUSSIA HAVE IT Tell Congress Drill For Oil Now! Alert: State Department gives away 125,000 square miles of Alaskan ocean floor Even if Congress follows President Bush's lead in opening off-shore oil exploration, there exist over 125,000 square miles of sea bottom that won't be explored, because the State Department amid controversy and against the will of Alaskans has surrendered the land to Russia. Eight islands and their surrounding sea floors were ceded to the former Soviet Union as part of the U.S.-U.S.S.R. Maritime Boundary Treaty in 1991, a treaty signed by the U.S. Senate and President George Bush but never ratified by the Soviets. Nonetheless, an executive agreement enforcing the terms of the treaty until ratification...

I don't see eye to eye with John McCain on everything: I disagree with his stance on illegal immigration: I think he should be tougher. I agree with his commitment to securing our borders: if he can get it done. However, I give him a big, Double Barreled Salute for having the guts to put this statement on his web site: "The family represents the foundation of Western Civilization and civil society and John McCain believes the institution of marriage is a union between one man and one woman. It is only this definition that sufficiently recognizes the vital and unique role played by mothers and fathers in the raising of children, and the role of the family in...

It's taken me a little while to get around to writing about this. Barack Hussein Obama and his wife Michelle allowed the press to interview their daughters on his daughter Malia's 10th birthday. Barack's True Colors... Now that it's over, Obama says they'll probably not let it happen again. They said it was an exception, that they got carried away. Well DUH! But wake up Barack Hussein Obama - it's too late - your true colors are showing. Clueless... What kind of a presidential candidate would let the press interview his 10 and 7 year old daughters? Someone who is clueless. Someone who is more interested in HIS objectives than shielding and protecting his daughters. It reeks of nothing...

I read a few reviews of Will Smith's new movie Hancock. I doubt I'll go see it after reading the reviews, but in general, I like his movies, he's a good actor. One thing struck me as I was reading the reviews, the writers kept talking about race. They said his character in Hancock represents Smith's own struggles and conflicts of being a successful black actor. That his Hancock character has to be twice as good, because he's black, and they infer that Smith's rise to stardom has been the same. They say that Smith transcended his race and that race is transparent in the characters he plays. So which is it? You can't have it both ways. Most...

Here's a big Double Barreled Salute to Senator Jesse Helms, who passed away this July 4th. What a fitting exit date for Jesse Helms: Independence Day! Thomas Jefferson and John Adams also died on Independence Day. Jesse Alexander Helms, Jr. was a 5 term United States Senator from North Carolina. A Republican. He served as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. I particularly like this quote from Jesse from a 1959 editorial: "Comprise, hell! If freedom is right and tyranny is wrong, why should those who believe in freedom treat it as if it were a roll of bologna to be bartered a slice at a time?" Jesse stood fast and true to his beliefs and allowed you...
