March 21, 2010 is a day that will live in infamy, the day the United States and the Freedom it once represented was Gang Raped by 220 officials elected to represent our wishes. The day we stopped leaning toward Socialism and actually made it law.
Anger is high on both sides of this issue, yet many don't understand what just happened and what it means to their future and their children's future.
A good number of the people in favor of Obamacare have not read the bill, don't know what's in it, yet think that it will allow them to get better healthcare, cheaper insurance, and perhaps keep them or a loved one from dying. These are all good things to desire, unfortunately this bill will not accomplish much at all along those lines. Instead it will burden our already failing economy with more taxes; it will discourage doctors from practicing, and put insurance companies out of business.
Many if not most of the elected officials who VOTED FOR Obamacare have not read the bill. One, Brad Miller confessed to not having read it on the local news last night. This is totally unacceptable, incompetent, and dangerous.
The current health care system has problems, and those problems need to be addressed. Insurance is expensive, mainly because medical care is expensive. Some insurance companies have bad policies, corruption and dishonesty does exist. Doctors are overworked and burdened with excessive paperwork, rules, and regulations. These things need to be fixed.
So what IS the problem with Obamacare, and why are people like me, who oppose it, so mad, so angry that it was forced on us against our wishes? Obamacare is an entitlement program. Healthcare is NOT a right. The Pursuit of Happiness is a Right. Free Speech is a right. The ability to see a doctor for free, or almost free, is NOT a right.
There are portions of the bill, such as requiring a citizen to purchase insurance, that are unconstitutional, and things like having the IRS enforce it that are just plain stupid. The bill puts more financial burden back on the states when the states are already buckling under their own financial problems.
There are people claiming that George Washington actually required all citizens to purchase military supplies. They are referring to the Second Militia Act of 1792. Once again, the liberal, socialist nut cases don't bother to READ... they didn't read Obamacare, so why should I expect them to read the Second Militia Act of 1792 which they're trying to quote... IT SAYS: you're only required to purchase the military gear IF you're in the Militia... AND even more... the bill specifically states that it is only in effect through the next congress, no longer. So, it does not apply to everyone, it does not cost that much (most white males of the proper age probably had a lot of the supplies anyway) and it didn't last forever, only a few years. So it's not the same. Period.
Compassion - Wiped Out by Illegal Immigrants.
Good people will argue that as a civilized nation we should provide healthcare for those who can't afford it. We already do. Are their problems with the current system? Yes, and they should be addressed and fixed. But we have to be in a fiscal state that allows us to help people. With a decimated economy and virtually open borders it's no longer possible as it once was. Unfortunately, these same people will argue that we should open our borders and provide the best healthcare in the world to illegal aliens. We can't do both. So Mr. Liberal-Lets-Love-Everybody-Else-and-Screw-Our-Country, while you're calling the local conservative radio talk show, blasting the host, blasting the evil Republicans, complaining that your [relative of some nature] couldn't get healthcare for [insert illness here], maybe you should review your liberal stance on immigration reform. Illegal immigration has increased the cost of healthcare for all of us for years. It's filled hospitals emergency rooms and hospital beds. It's why John McCain must go, as should any so called Republican supporting amnesty.
Barack Hussein Obama - the Perfect Specimen...
When you look at Barack Hussein Obama, you're looking at the culmination of generations of engineering. You're looking at the pinnacle of a series of government manipulations of society. He's like Frankenstein: the result of experiments and operations to create the ultimate liberal, socialist man... and the monster will destroy us if we don't fight back.
I've heard some people say that Obama is an idiot. I disagree - he's very smart. He has planned out so many facets to this takeover that it's quite possible he'll get everything he wants before the November 2010 elections. If we don't keep up the pressure we're doomed.
What do I mean by "the culmination of generations of engineering"? I'm talking about government control. Each and every time the government creates a program to help someone, it creates dependence. Each and every time the government creates a program to help a group of people; those people will expect it to continue. Liberals and Socialists believe this is what government is for. It is not. They believe that the citizens of a country should be like cult members, giving all they make and create to the cult leaders. The cult leaders, in their infinite wisdom, will, in turn dole out just what each member needs. If this sounds farfetched, then you need to wake up... it's now law.
It Starts in Our Schools...
The federal government has its hands in the public education system, again, something it was never intended to be involved with. The Department of Education will withhold the bucks if you don't follow the guidelines and teach to the tests they want each student to pass. The education system is full of liberal teachers and unions. Colleges and universities, even private schools, are saturated with liberals and socialists. For generations the government has manipulated the education system to create a more docile and uneducated society. Yes, there ARE pockets of greatness in our education system, but for the most part, we turn out a steady stream of "workers" - exactly what the public education system was created to deliver. These are people who believe that Obama care is going to be like Christmas and they won't have any more bills and they'll just pay their co-pay and get the best healthcare in the world. These are the people who, during the election, were asked if Obama made a good choice selecting Sarah Palin as his running mate and they said YES (ok, in case you're one of them.. Sarah Palin was John McCain's running mate, not Obama's).
Thomas Jefferson said that liberty and ignorance cannot coexist - I'm afraid we're learning that the hard way, we're seeing it firsthand.
Liberals/Socialists/Marxists see a panacea, the utopian society that only exists in theory. They fail to realize, acknowledge, or admit that human nature prevents it from ever being realized. Maybe they ignore these facts out of their own greed - since, if they're in power they have advantages (like being exempt from Obamacare for example).
Humans are animals and as such, we're content to lie around like a well fed dog on a farmhouse porch, waiting on the next load of table scraps to be tossed out. Once people become used to being a pet dog, it's hard to get them to be anything else. The result: "The government didn't come save me..." "The government didn't build a big enough levy..." "The government didn't feed me..." "Where was the government..." "I deserve free healthcare..."
The Free Man:
As animals, we only spring to action when we're hungry, amorous, or in danger. That's why democracy and free enterprise works so well (as long as the government stays out of the way). When or if we want something - we work for it. When we see someone in need - out of our earnings, and generosity, we help them out. Everyone needs a little help from time to time and it's best handled locally.
But domesticate a dog and after a few generations they expect you to take care of them. They become clever at begging for more food, or stealing the cat's food, and abusing your love for them. It's cute with pets, not with humans.
No one would regularly and intentionally give money to someone claiming to be hungry only to have them buy drugs or alcohol with it: yet we do that every day with foodstamps (some estimate 75% of foodstamp money is spent on drugs, alcohol, and other things it's not supposed to be used for). Every government controlled entitlement program is rampant with fraud and waste... yet Obamacare, the biggest one yet, is supposed to save us all.
Do the supporters of Obamacare not think that when small business owners realize that going over 50 employees will cost them vastly more money that they'll not hire that 51st employee? Or if they have 55 employees that they'll lay off 5? Do they think that the people who game (nice way of saying abuse and fraudulently live off of) the welfare system, food stamp, unemployment, etc. programs will actually buy insurance when they see that the fine (uh... tax) for not having insurance is less than buying the insurance... and that when they need insurance because they're sick or hurt, Obamacare requires the insurance companies to cover them...(bam... private insurance companies are now out of business).
More Fear = More Votes
So why would a politician want a dumbed down, docile populace? Because once you're dependant you're scared. You're scared of loosing what the government has been giving you. The Democrats gave us Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid... and each election it's used as a scare tactic. If you elect the other guy, that Republican, he'll take away your Social Security. So the scared population votes to keep their entitlements... but at what cost?
You know what? If you never were on Social Security, then you wouldn't elect someone you wouldn't buy a pair of shoes or a car from simply out of fear of losing your Social Security. They will do the same thing with healthcare - which is why they want to put the insurance companies out of business and control everything: more fear = more votes.
This country was not founded by porch dogs - it was founded by freedom loving men and women. The founders never envisioned a Federal Government that was huge and controlled everything. The Federal Government was designed to protect the individual, not provide for the individual. It was created with the shining ideal of Equal Opportunity... not Equal results. Today, far too many people have been taught that this is the land of equal results, not equal opportunity. We have become what we fought the Revolutionary War to leave.
This is Not Your Father's Democratic Party
Well, maybe not your Great, Great Grandfather's Democratic Party. It's now a socialist regime. I know a lot of Democrats that are Democrats because it's been their family's party for generations. It's time to wake up and really take a look at who you're supporting, who you're voting for. Remove Democrat and Republican and think about how you would vote on some of the bills... think about how you would like to see our government work... and then you should be ashamed of the majority of Democrats in office. I'm not saying Republicans are perfect by any means; we have to watch them too.
But What About the Sick People and Babies?
I read something a medical professional (not a doctor) wrote today about our infant mortality rate and that the United States really doesn't have the best healthcare system in the world. She was in favor of Obamacare. It made me sick. To her, and others like her, I say this: you can make any ranking, rating, or poll come out the way you want to if you know what you're doing, if you ask the questions the right way, if you manipulate the data the right way, if you leave one little thing out. Studies and "polls" by universities (one of the studies she quoted was by a university) are notoriously biased in a liberal direction. The World Health Organization ranks us 37th... so what. Where do people all over the world come when they have the ability to go anywhere they want to get treated? A lot of them come here. The fact is, we have great medical facilities and doctors in this country. The fact is infant mortality rates among various groups of our population vary widely. I would wager that if you look at the groups who are dependent on the government, the infant mortality is high. If you look at the groups who do not, I would wager it would be low. Notice I didn't say poor, middle class, or rich. I'm talking about the difference between people who take care of themselves and their own, and people who don't and expect "big government" to take care of them.
Sick of the Sobs...
I'm disgusted with the sob story cases that Obama and others in his administration wheel out in front of us as examples of what's wrong with the current system and how the government is going to make it better. Yes there are problems with insurance companies and how the operate. But they're much better than any government program I've ever dealt with. We could probably find plenty of sob cases where Medicare / Medicaid dropped the ball too.
Several of the sob cases they've showcased have background stories that read as such: refused to see doctor... was treated for free at a hospital but didn't follow advice. It goes on and on. Yes, there are true sob cases and there are problems with the current system. The current system could be fixed by actually working on healthcare issues and not Socialism.
Putting it All Together
In effect, this Healthcare Bill, Obamacare, is a huge, huge, huge program to try and fix problems that previous huge government programs have created after generations of steadily increasing the government's role in our lives. After steadily increasing the number of people who depend on the government for their subsistence, vast numbers of people who actually think that it's their right to have the government provide all their needs, we've reached the point where they can no longer take care of themselves. We bail out everything and everybody, it cannot continue... we've created a house of cards that will fall down.
Enough is enough. Obamacare is not about healthcare, it's about creating more porch dogs that are afraid their master will stop feeding them if they don't vote to keep them in office.
Our current healthcare system works well because it's based in the private sector and is somewhat free enterprise. Insurance companies compete with each other (to a degree). Doctors compete with each other (to a degree). Drug companies develop new drugs and treatments because they can profit from a cure. Take all this away and we will be left with a system of porch dogs in each of these areas of healthcare. I don't want that. Most Americans don't want that.
It's the competition and free enterprise system that creates the drive to get off the porch and create, develop, cure, fix, help, solve, and make miracles happen. Lower taxes, reduce the regulations, get the government out of the way and the system will work. Every time the government cranks up taxes, jobs are lost. Every time they lower taxes and regulations, jobs are created. Create jobs and people can work and pay for things themselves... hum... imagine that!
Treason?
Yes Treason. The founders of this country, the men that framed and signed the Declaration of Independence and wrote the Constitution did so out of a love of freedom. Some of them paid dearly with their lives, fortunes, and families. They did not design the Federal Government to be the colossal behemoth that it has become, it was designed to protect the individual, not provide for them. If they were alive today and saw the backroom dealings, the under-the-table bribes and payoffs, and the self-serving legislation, they would yell treason. In fact, they would yell a lot things about what we've become. What would they think of Stupak selling out for $750,000 for airports and airport landing rights... claiming that Obama will sign an executive order that will fix the abortion issues in the bill (which can't work because an executive order can't override law)? Our founding fathers would point to the majority of our elected officials and charge them with treason.
I think any elected official voting yes for a bill they have not read should be taken as treason.
This is Not a Reality Show
More people can tell you who's on American Idol, or that Fat People show than the bills being voted on. They can't tell you who their elected officials are in their state or the Federal Government. Most people have never called, emailed, or written their representatives. Most people don't vote, of those that do, most show up to vote every 8 years and think that's enough. It's no wonder that politicians in both parties are a bunch of crooks. It's sad that it took a socialists regime and the potential wrecking of an industry to wake people up, they just didn't wake up in time. We need to stay mad about what just happened. We need to educate others.
Everyone needs to let their elected officials know how they feel on these important topics... student loans and amnesty are next... then a national sales tax to pay for Obamacare: start writing NOW.
Student Loans?
Yes, they want to take over student loans. We don't need any additional government control. We need less government. Less taxes.
Amnesty?
Yes, John McCain is in favor of it. He and a lot of Republicans have voted for it in the past. We cannot let them do so again. Why would they? Because they smell fresh votes and their corrupt little souls can't stand up for what's right in the presence of new, fresh voters.

Write both your STATE and Federal Elected Officials... ALL OF THEM.
Find out your elected official's contact information from www.usa.gov - you can then go to their official web site and click the contact button, tab, or link to email and/or call them. You'll need your zip + 4 for most of the sites, but all the forms have a link for getting it if you don't know it.
